Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

A1.1.-The two series of courses

a) Series of systematic courses

-DDC

The backbone of Docuplay is the DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification), whose first three levels, 10 classes, 100 divisions and 1000 sections, reproduce exactly the Dewey classification. Level 3 includes, with a four-digit code in parentheses, level 4 or subsections, of our own elaboration, with about 50,000 subsections or section divisions.

The Professional Qualifications series, of the Spanish Administration, contributes three thousand micro courses to this series, with a similar structure on three levels: 26 families, 692 qualifications and 2300 training modules.

The great advantage of the DDC as a backbone of Docuplay is the scalability of its subsections and infrasections within the clear and hierarchical inverted pyramid of themes of the first three levels. This provides easy accessibility to any course or COC (Online Collaborative Course) of any level available to people of any educational level.

The fastest and most efficient way to search and choose a systematic course, especially in classes with many thousands of them, such as 3 Social Sciences, 5 Natural Sciences, 6 Technologies and 7 Arts, is the DDC series of courses, at the Docuplay home page. Clicking on any of the classes, skips to the first of the 100 divisions, also accessible by the Menu; and from each division its 10 sections are accessed, and a large variable number of subsections for each section.

b) Series of toponymic courses

b1) Course levels of the toponymic series

The courses of the toponymic series must cover all the relevant divisions from the geographical and administrative point of view, divisions that, following an inverted pyramidal model or from greater to lesser extent, offer the following eight levels:

1. Tier 1 divisions or continents;

2. Tier 2 divisions or sovereign countries;

3. level 3 divisions or states, regions etc;

4. Level 4 divisions or provinces, departments, counties etc .;

5. Level 5 divisions or municipalities:

6. level 6 divisions or populated places;

7. Level 7 divisions or districts and neighborhoods.

8. Level 8 divisions or urban streets (in development).

b2) About subscribing to courses on populated place names

Subscription to population toponymic courses must take into account three assumptions about population size:

1st assumption: The same CP or zip code is shared by several place names (because they have very small populations). In this case, the following must be done:

a) .- The Subscribe link is maintained below each repeated CP, but to indicate that it is the same course, it will be placed behind each CP, in parentheses, (X TOP), where X will be the number of repetitions of the CP.

b). The Subscribe link is not besides the name of the place names corresponding to the repeated CPs.

2nd Assumption: The CP corresponds to a single toponymic name or medium-sized population, in which case the link Subscribe below the toponymic name is maintained, but the one of your CP is deleted (otherwise there would be two courses on the same subject) .

3rd assumption: This is a large population that is therefore divided into several districts or parts, each with its own CP. In this case the Subscribe link is maintained as it is now. That is, the courses on each of the CPs (column 1) comprised by the same place name (column 2) are different from each other and from the place name. In this case the name of the CP courses will consist of the CP number followed by the place name, followed in parentheses by a number indicative of the number of CPs it has (eg (2), (3) etc.)

The names of level 1 and 2 toponyms, separated by periods, will be placed before place names or CP numbers over the name of the courses

.

b3) Functions

The series of toponymic courses has two main functions: (a) that of sympathizing with the real communities, whose inhabitants will respond by subscribing to the courses that concern them (if not all seven toponymic levels, at least those of the last three or four levels); (b) that of obtaining 'big data' with a view to the creation of markets for companies, and especially for IHLs and CANIGs (V. resource B6.2.-)

b4) TOP series source

The source of the Docuplay series of courses on the toponymy of our entire planet belongs to the United States Administration or Government (GNIS), developed by the US Geological Survey in cooperation with the US Board on Geographic Names http://geonames.nga.mil/gns/html/namefiles.html

B5) Scientific and humanistic content of this series

The toponymic series constitutes a development of the last class of the DDC, the 9 Geography and History. Because of its geographical content, its courses are comparable to the scientific and technic courses of classes 5 and 6, while for its historical, sociological, artistic content etc. they are comparable to the courses of social and humanistic sciences.

A1.2.-How to choose course and subscribe

Once the student has examined the series of courses in the DDC or TOP columns of the home page, before subscribing to a course, it should be taken into account the following indications about the adequacy between the contents and educational levels.

a) Choose courses by educational level

1. Primary education

Basic elementary school (from 5 to 9 years old): the ten classes of the DDC.

A toponymic course with a subkey (see resource A5.4.3.)

Upper Primary (from 9 to 12 years old): the ten DDC classes and some techno-scientific divisions of the DDC (classes 3, 5 and 6), with a sub-key of two perspectives.

One of the 26 families in the Professional Qualifications series.

(see cover, DDC series: 330.3 Professional qualifications (2907).

Two of the seven toponymic courses to which each student belongs, with a subkey of each of the four perspectives.

Note: subkeys can be dispensed with

2. Secondary education

Basic secondary (from 13 to 15 years old): some of the ten divisions of each DDC class, with two subkeys from three perspectives (see resource A5.4.3.).

Three of the seven toponymic courses to which each student belongs, with two subkeys from each of the four perspectives (see resource A5.4.4.).

Upper secondary school (from 16 to 18 years old): the basic secondary school program plus some sections of the techno-scientific divisions of the DDC (classes 3, 5 and 6), with two subkeys of the five perspectives.

Three of the 26 families in the Professional Qualifications series

(see cover, DDC series: 330.3 Professional qualifications (2907) https://www.docuplay.com/programas_view3/139

Three of the seven toponymic courses to which each student belongs, with three subkeys from four perspectives

3. Professional education

Basic professional (up to 18 years): some technoscientific divisions (DDC, classes 3, 5 and 6), with a subkey of each of the five perspectives (see resource A5.4.3.).

Some of the 26 families in the Professional Qualifications series and several of their 692 Qualifications

(see cover, DDC series: 330.3 Professional qualifications (2907)

One of the eight toponymic courses to which each student belongs, with one third of the subkeys of the four perspectives (see resource A5.4.4.).

Senior professional (after age 18): some technoscientific sections of the DDC, with two subkeys from each of the five perspectives (see resource A5.4.3.);

some of the 2300 micro courses in which the 692 qualifications of the Professional Qualifications series are subdivided

(see cover, DDC series: 330.2 PROFESSIONS (6659)

4. Tertiary education

Diploma level (18 to 21 years old): some DDC sections of the chosen specialty, with two subkeys from each of the five perspectives (see resource A5.4.3.).

Two of the seven toponymic courses to which the student belongs, with one third of the subkeys of the four perspectives (see resource A5.4.4.).

Graduate level (from 22 to 24 years old): some DDC sections of the chosen specialty, with three subkeys from each of the five perspectives (see resource A5.4.3.).

Three of the seven toponymic courses to which the student belongs, with half of the sub-keys of the four perspectives (see resource A5.4.4.).

Master and doctorate level (from 24 onwards): some DDC subsections of the chosen technoscientific specialty, with four subkeys from each of the five perspectives.

Four of the seven toponymic courses to which the student belongs, with a third of the subkeys of the four perspectives.

b) Choose by themes

b1) Technoscientific Thematic

In the series of DDC courses, the STEM (English acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) predominates, as evidenced by the fact that classes 5 Natural Sciences and 6 Technologies total more than twenty thousand courses, out of a total of fifty one thousand. These courses constitute the indispensable bases for the training of professionals capable of innovating and creating new products and services for DIHs* (Digital Innovation Hubs), or perfecting existing ones. Professionals who later, for the most part, could be employed in CANIGs*((Activating Centers of New Global Industries) , producers, manufacturers and marketers of such products and services. In the index of the DDC series of our Home page can quickly see the content of each class, starting with the two of STEM as well as the divisions or programs of each one. Class 3 (Social Sciences) could be part of the STEM group, which would have more than forty thousand courses or modules. Within this theme, you can also find the three thousand micro courses of the Professional Qualifications series and the toponymic courses with a predominantly geographical focus.

(*) For DIHs and CANIGs see the resources A4 and B6.

b2) Humanistic theme

The seven humanistic classes of the DDC, although they have only 20% of the total of their courses, this is enough to provide, especially those of classes 1 Philosophy, 2 Religion, 7 Fine 8 Literature and 9 History, the abilities of thought, synthesis, criticism etc. required for the much desired human qualities such as creativity, innovation, balance, sociability, governance etc.

A1.4.-Main characteristics of the contents

1.-The cloud (web) as a source of content

It is one of the fundamental technologies in Docuplay, since a large part of the contents of its courses, except those provided by students and teachers in the form of comments, audiovisual illustrations, etc., are taken from various websites. And to take advantage of the best cloud content for its courses, progressively and quickly enriched, Docuplay uses the best search engines in various ways, depending on the types of its contents and services (see resource A3).

Search engines in the cloud have two tools in Docuplay: the key, which is the title of the course and, to deepen or broaden the perspectives on the course, two lists of subkeys, one for the DDC series of courses and another for the TOP.

2.-Continuous education

Docuplay has two factors that will promote the continuous training of students. On the one hand, the fact that the main contents come from the web through the main search engines and are constantly growing and renewing. And, on the other, the fact that their programs add up to tens of thousands of courses in total and that these are flexible in terms of duration and versatile in terms of integration into sets or disciplines, their size being small compared to MOOCs to use, so they can be called nanocourses, micro courses or modules. Anant Agarwal, CEO of edX, the second platform of MOOCs for its number of students, argues that continuous education or lifetime will be generalized for the majority of citizens and that is why educators and companies should encourage the subscription of their students and employees to online courses to be trained for a lifelong education, independent of educentros and companies.

3.-Modularity

Docuplay courses are modules, taken this term in a double sense: the first coincides with the meaning 3 of the dictionary of the RAE: "Educational unit that is part of a teaching program", modularity that underlies the jointness. The other sense is that of brevity, variable as the student wants to delve more or less into the topic of the module through the many available subkeys. The minimum duration, without the use of subkeys, is estimated at one month and the maximum at three months; exceeded both limits, the course will be blocked.

Docuplay has a wide range of more than fifty thousand courses of the DDC or systematic series, of which almost three quarters are technical and the rest humanistic. The basic contents are usually those of Wikipedia, since most of the time their articles provide the most basic and recent notions on the subject of each modular course.

4.-Customization

Being personalization one of the most valued contributions of online education, Docuplay reaches a degree hardly surpassed in some services, such as:

-the two records of activities that Docuplay performs for each student and course are detailed, exhaustive and ubiquitous during 24/7 in such a degree that it is out of the reach of every human teacher even if he had only one student;

-Thanks mainly to an artificial intelligence in constant learning' or improvement, Docuplay can guide and help its students as no human teacher can do: recommending (new courses, bibliography, contacts with a view to their professional future ...), correcting, responding to your questions, taking into account your skills and limitations etc.

A1.1.-How are systematic Docuplay courses classified?

The series of systematic courses is classified by the DDC or Dewey Decimal Classification, the most classical and globalized library classification. Docuplay already has more than fifty thousand courses in its four levels of ten classes, one hundred divisions, one thousand sections and tens of thousands of subsections. See resource I.6.-What kinds of courses does Docuplay have?

A1.2.-What will be the last level of systematic courses?

Docuplay is developing a fifth level, that of infrasections, which will have hundreds of thousands or, in some cases, millions of 'courses with their own name', that is, whose title is the name of a company or institution, a personality or a work, provided that such entities are closely related to the subject of the course of the section or subsection in which they are included and that they have documentation that allows their study. Thus, for example, the Pianists subsection will be subdivided into hundreds of infrastructures, on composers and performers of piano Works etc.

A1.3.-How important is the numerical or alphanumeric code of each course?

In the series of systematic courses or DDC the numerical codes offer two transcendent advantages: the ranking of the courses in up to five levels, which facilitates their search and study; and the collaboration between homologous courses or with the same code regardless of their language: collaboration through the exchange of the best, well-paid contributions of students and teachers.

A1.4.-What are the two kinds of toponymic courses?

The series of toponymic courses is subdivided into the series of courses on populated place names and that of non-populated place names.

A1.5.-What benefit will the courses on population toponymy bring to companies and students?

The courses on populated toponymy will have indexes or tables of data of the companies and educational centers based in the same area of the place-name object of the course, area delimited by the same postal code (ZIP), which could mean for those subscribed to the course oportunities of employment or study. In this series of courses two functions can be highlighted: (a) that of sympathizing with the real communities, whose inhabitants will respond by subscribing to the courses that concern them (if not the seven toponymic levels, at least that of their place of residence); (b) that of obtaining 'big data' with a view to creating markets for DIHs and CANIGs .

A1.6.-What social benefits will the courses on non-populated toponymy report?

The sub-series of courses on unpopulated toponymy will provide students in each country with an understanding of their nature and natural resources that schools close to it can promote by organizing excursions for their students. To do this they have the latitude and longitude coordinates of each place name that will be used to trace hiking trails and to organize photographic competitions on each place name: each photograph will be instantly uploaded to Docuplay and, to compete, its title and coordinates must coincide with those listed in the place name row.

A1.7.-Why will the systematic courses of Docuplay promote a continuous and specialized education?

Because in the cloud or web, the main source of content of Docuplay courses, the content is constantly increasing and updated, which requires every professional a frequent recycling of their knowledge. And because the Docuplay courses are modular, allowing each student to configure their content and duration according to their personal needs and preferences, since what is decisive for it will be what their activity records reflect in each course (see resource B4).
